There's a beautiful dark blue R107 SL for sale a mile or so away from my dad's house, presumable by older person due to sign in windshield and location. He loves the generation and may consider not clinging to the auto tragic NC forever! (Yes, I need to live vicariously through others)

If it's a 380SL you need to avoid the pre-1985 models. They used a single-row timing chain that liked to destroy the engine for no fucking reason. late 1984 and after got double-row timing chains, which were much more reliable.

Thanks for the info. I think the later R107s are pretty greatly improved for being the same gen.
